The making of...
nvmo logo evolution

storyline

The nvmo (Dutch Society of Medical Oncology) commissioned Mattmo to design a new logo for them on their 25th anniversary. The new logo is a result of incorporating the four core values of Integral, Directing, Empathy and Connecting with the hexagon (a prevalent form used in the first logo).

When tasked with the animation to show the transformation from old to new I wanted to literally rip the old logo apart, keep the hexagon and build up the new one within its border.

This short shows not only the transition from old to new logo but also the core values that guided the entire design process.

art direction

I received the old and new logo and devised ways to show how all four core values were visually encoded in the new design.

The old hexagonal form moves showing transitioning and the we see the central dot which stands for Integral. From this central dot new, smaller dots pop up conveying the idea of Directing and from there even smaller dots slide into view that remind us that every action must be deeply Empathic. At the end the hexagon forms itself into a circle showing that everything is and must stay Connected.

All assets were received as an Illustrator file.

I mainly animated masks in AfterEffects and moved the unfolding story along to the riveting track Beautiful Minds by Immersive Music (premiumbeat.com). The music was chosen to add a professional, yet energetic vibe and carries the animation from beginning to close.

Hope you've enjoyed it.
